This course builds a solid creative foundation so you can feel completely confident using either your smartphone or a camera.
You will move from just “snapping a picture” to capturing how a moment feels; learn to look for tiny details, textures, light and shadows to bring emotion and interest into your everyday photos, enhancing your photo feed – forever!

Hello,
I’m Mi Elfverson, photographer and your teacher.
For many years, people have told me they wish they could see things through my eyes.
I’m not superhuman, but I guess I do see the environment around me slightly differently. Or perhaps just more of it. I see the light and the shadows, shape and form, a synergy or clash.
I’ve finally put together how this works into an online course. To give you inspiration to start seeing, not with my eyes, but with your own, from my perspective.
So this course isn’t for aspiring photographers, but for those who want to start capturing their surrounding in a more creative way. With my guidance and some tasks, we can have a play, without chasing perfect results.
I promise you your creativity will expand with just a small shift in your attention, not by adding pressure to perform. Seeing is a practice, not a talent. The value lies in the process, not the outcome, although there’s also an opportunity to share what you’ve captured as a collaboration on our Instagram account.

Live online calls with Mi, where you can ask questions, meet the other group members. Mi gives feedback on a few of the group members' photos.
INSTAGRAM GROUP
An optional private space to connect with your fellow participants, ask questions, celebrate progress, and get creative inspiration between our Zoom calls. The more active you are, the more photo friends you make!

Photo Fam is about opening up your creative eyes, without pressure to be perfect. And on the way, you’ll learn the foundations of photography, create images you’re actually quite proud of and upgrade the look of your photo feed, forever.

MODULE CONTENT
MODULE 1
LEARNING TO SEE
An introduction to photography as a practice of noticing. We’ll explore what it means to see creatively and why slowing down changes everything.
The essentials of Photography: Exposure, Focus and Composition simplified and explained so you can feel inspired rather than confused!
MODULE 2:
ANGLES SHAPES & FORM
Playing with angles, shapes, and forms. Discover how perspective changes a story. We’ll explore how to create depth in a flat image and see familiar places from fresh angles.
Learning to see more, exploring your surrounding with your heart and soul
MODULE 3:
THE NEXT LAYER
Playing with colour, filters and enhancing your photos without creating a fake or AI generated end-result.
Colour is emotion. Learn how to use colour intentionally to create mood and feeling in your photographs — or embrace the simplicity of black and white.
Photographers have tweaked their photos for hundreds of years. Giving your image that extra bit of touch isn’t a crime and it doesn’t have to be difficult, it can add to your personal style.
MODULE 4:
THE CREATIVE STORYLINE
Connecting your heart to the lens, finding your style, and sharing a cohesive photo storyline.
This is your opportunity to tie all your learning together, trust your gut, and step forward feeling completely confident.
DO I NEED
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE?
No! You don’t need any previous experience of any kind.
Just some curiosity, the wish to create and a little bit of time.
Follow the modules, connect with the group on our Zoom calls, do the tasks, share as a collaboration on Instagram and have fun!
DO I NEED
AN EXPENSIVE CAMERA?
Nope! You can use any camera you want, your mobile phone camera is great. Don’t go and buy any new camera for this, see what you can do with what you have first. Feel free to ask in the group if you need advice.
HOW MUCH TIME
IS REQUIRED?
The course modules are quick and straight forward, they will take you a couple of hours in total. You do them online, in your own time.
Each module comes with a simple task that you can do in your own time, wherever you are.
The summer course bonus Zoom calls are there for your own benefit, but if you can’t make them, it’s just your own loss.
how can i
showcase my photos?
When you’ve purchased the course, you’re welcome to upload your photos to your own Instagram and tag us. If it’s a dedicated task photo or any relevant picture the course has inspired you to take, you can invite our account as a collaborator, which means it will be shared on our Instagram page too on specific days.
Who can join
in the course?
If you’ve purchased a single use, individual course, it’s just for you. You’ve got access to the content for a year.
If you’re doing a Photo Fam course, like the summer course, then you can join with the whole family. This means those of you who live together, or your children who have moved out, but not your extended family in the other end of town! If in doubt, just ask, you’ll find that I’m very approachable.
