A visit to Jardin Majorelle
In the afternoon of our first day of our photo tour in October, we will visit Jardin Majorelle, the design garden where Yves Saint Laurent found his peace and creativity; a feast for the eye and soul, where colours used by Matisse mixes with the colour of nature.
It was the painter Jacques Majorelle who spent forty years to create this sanctuary. He put all his passion and dedication into it. Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé bought the property and gardens in 1980 to save it from being torn down and replaced by a hotel complex. They moved into the stunning house and named it “Villa Oasis”.
YSL passed away in 2008 in Paris, but his ashes were scattered in the rose garden and a memorial was built and still remains here.
There´s also a gallery, two shops and a lovely café.
These are my own iPhone shots from Jardin Majorelle.
